Anxiety | Depression | Posttraumatic Stress | Workplace Challenges and Injuries | Grief
I am a Registered Psychologist and hold a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. I have worked with various client backgrounds in both assessment and therapy, including first responders, survivors of domestic violence, cancer patients, and psychiatry inpatients. I have also worked with claimants of the Workers’ Compensation Board through Traumatic Psychological Injury (TPI) and Brain Injury (BI) programs.
In treatment, I work with a range of concerns including post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, grief and life transitions, moral injury, and post-injury rehabilitation. I am formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I also enjoy drawing from other treatment modalities to fit the needs of my clients, including Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy.
In addition to treatment, I provide psychological assessments for adults, including psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic evaluations. In terms of research pursuits, I study and present on suicide risk and prevention, particularly around suicide contagion. I am also a previous recipient of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for my research and community work.
Most importantly, I strive to foster a genuine and strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. I consider everyone’s unique background and cultural makeup, tailoring treatment to fit with my client’s worldview, values, and goals. In therapy and assessment, I aim to foster safety in times of vulnerability while also empowering people to see their strengths. Growth can come at the intersection of hope and adversity, and I work to support my clients in this growth.
